: The Knights might just as well be robots, they have so little character. And
: the Crawlers are robots, I think. It's not just the lack of humour that
: makes the Prometheans dull to fight, it's more generally the lack of
: character I think. I don't have the feeling that they're a people in the
: way the Covenant races are. In the case of Knights and Crawlers, the main
: opposition, it's like they're just killing machines, and the Watchers have
: quite a machine-like aura too. It makes them all less satisfying to fight
: and kill, compared to living breathing covies.
: Are you talking about the dreadful engine sound or something else?
When I first saw the Watchers, the first thing I thought was, oh cool, these things are bringing me pizza! The Knights are just so dull and boring with almost no AI at all. They lose interest so easy and I see them so often just walk around an object and stand there like a statue. The Covenant characters are nothing more them targets with no character or personality. The Halo 4 Elites are what disappointments me the most. They shoot at me a few times but if I run up to them they backpedal away from me without firing a shot, and they hardly even resort to hand to hand combat.
On one of the larger outdoor maps, I actually followed an Elite that was back peddling so fast away from me that it wasn't even smart enough to figure out that it was going to walk off the map and fall to it's death......which it did. Real smart AI, 343!
The Covenant in Halo 1 are lightyears ahead in terms of character, AI and personality then these things in Halo 4.
I'm selling my copy of Halo 4 and Halo Reach so I can buy the new Gears of War game coming out soon. It's feels odd for me to sell a Halo game. I've never done that before.
I got the feeling that whom ever is in charge of mission development at 343, has never played a minute of any of the previous games. Considering most of Halo 4 was created overseas, I have my doubts that any overseas developers could be true Halo fans. Maybe Microsoft will realize that Bungie is the only one's that can make a quality Halo game and sell it back to Bungie before 343 makes another turkey like Halo 4.
