Halo 3 probably had the most solid development schedule. We know 1 and 2 were pretty much rushed out the door, with 2 being severely cut down. ODST was essentially a super-expansion for H3 and Reach was... Reach. I think the gameplay is fantastic in that game but the way it re-framed what we knew of the story is where it fell flat.

Halo 4 is the product of a company playing it safe but still taking risks, it feels weird.

I think H5 will be a return to groundbreaking form but yeah... after this utter debacle there will be a lot of bad hype surrounding the release. Or not who knows... consumers have pretty much shown that stuff like this doesn't really effect a franchise as a whole. It'll be interesting to see what happens.
