I stayed up late setting up the TV and all that, when it works it's smooth as hell. I don't get much sleep during the week, so I like to be left alone on the weekends to sleep in. At 8am my wife is going ballistic because she couldn't watch TV, she's just really pissed because she says my new xbox screwed up the TV. I stayed in bed and told her to turn everything off and just say "xbox on". I hear her yell again and she just goes on a rant that she never watches TV and that I screwed it all up. She drags me out of bed to fix it, I go to the living room and see the TV, xbox one, Cisco U-Verse receiver, and AV receiver on and everything set correctly. The TV app on the xbox OS says "must be signed in to use this functionality", I went and stood in front of it for a sec, it signed me in and there was the TV.
Having to sing-in was very upsetting. This just needs to work and nobody wants to mess around with this Mickey Mouse signing in bullshit? If you want me to route TV through your box it should just turn on and take me straight to the channel I was watching. I could create a silver account for my wife but what am I supposed to do when my mom, sister or aunt are over and expect to just turn on the TV and watch like they've always done? Creating an account of every conceivable person that could be over watching TV is moronic. You also can't set an auto-sign-in of your account when powering on like you could on the 360, your only auto sign-in option is Kinect. Needless to say it was all really cool when I played with the feature, but I'm done with this TV through xbox experiment.
There are countless details like that which were just not thought out and can ruin the cool features which sell the system. Another example besides TV and Parties/Friends is Storage, there's no way to manage it so you have no idea how much space you have on the system. I think this is definitely the system to have but I would wait until it there's something you really want to play and the system has been updated.
