At this point external expansion isn't supported but is planned (but will prolly have no limits). The PS4 doesn't support external expansion, isn't likely to, but does allow user-replacement of the internal HDD (or I should say "allows replacement without voiding the warranty".) Kind of a shame that both consoles can't allow both.

If it's not too difficult to replace the internal HDD and not do any damage when I get a One I'll probably swap out the HDD for a smaller SSD to boost performance and keep my local storage on a travel drive tucked behind it.
