There was 85 fights/issues collected in 9 tankoubons. The OVA series ended after only two episodes. :-( James Cameron was rumored to be working on a Battle Angel movie, but this eventually turned into Dark Angel. There was two manga semi-sequels, Ashen Victor and Gunnm Gaiden. Ashen Victor was released in the states but Viz has not yet brought over Gunnm Gaiden (but I hear they plan to).

Gally's growth in the OVA mimics her growth in the manga. When she was given her first body by Ido it was a body just for show. Gally acted young and naive. When she was later given a berserker body she started acting more mature, more predatorial.

It's really a great series, one of my favorites. I demand you all go out and buy all 9 graphic novels and the AD Vision DVD. ^_^
