(It's Gally. Galleys are either oared ships or kitchens, no? :))
There are 9 volumes total from Viz, start to finish. (about 70 issues?)
I recall the Japanese version of Battle Angel anime having a softly-spoken, young-ish, higher pitched voice for Gally throughout. Depending on which one you saw first and one's preferences, one would either object to or accept dubs. I prefer subbed myself but the dub for Battle Angel was good. The two episodes showed Gally "growing" from an innocent, naive little girl to a haunted, more mature individual. Amanda really adapted her voice to the changes the character was going through... I guess kinda like the way Konoko's character will develop in the game...

(aiyaaa....now I gotta go watch Battle Angel again. heh)
