In Response To: Ye olde list of complaints (Zyrxil) My only complaint with what I've seen of the game (the demo only), is its 'unpolished' look. There isn't an ability to change key bindings in game, you can't change settings while in the middle of a game, etc. The graphics aren't as flashy as some other contemporary games (Konoko's shoulderpads do have a pretty cool reflective surface, though). The save system is pretty poorly implemented, there are definitely ways to make it better. I'm disappointed that multiplayer was phased out, and I suspect that it wasn't the only thing that got axed before the final cut... But for those who complained about the gameplay: Stop yo bitchin'! If you're having trouble landing combos, you need to work on a little timing and coordination. If you're complaining about difficulty (or lack thereof), there are a bunch of things you can do to keep yourself challenged on the first level alone! Set the game on hard, and try to kill all enemies with the backbreaker. Or after the second save point, run through all the rooms, and attract all the enemies for a showdown with 9+ baddies. You think there aren't enough cool moves? There's nothing more satisfying than disarming that striker with the machine pistol, shooting him with his own gun while he's down, then knocking out his buddy that ran up behind you with a backwards flip kick, all in one, smooth sequence. My only complaints in this regard is the lack of a 'head shot' system with weapons, and the ability to holster a two handed weapon (where does she hide that Scram Cannon?) The voice acting is not horrible. If you don't think Muro is villanous enough, then you must not be familiar with the generic Anime villain: the mysterious, thin, effeminate male with funky colored hair. Sound like someone you know? Bungie West set out to create an Anime inspired, console friendly fighting game. We all knew that back in '99 when we all heard about the game. Then, way back in '00, Bungie was acquired by Microsoft, Oni lost blood, and then multiplayer. But we all stuck around, because the game intrigued us. We all knew from the beginning that this would not be like another Marathon. We knew the story wouldn't be a rich, and the universe not as immersive, but we also knew that with Bungie at the helm, Oni would turn out to be one hell of an experience. After playing the demo, I'd say that the game has lived up to my expectations. I just hope that the final release will have a little more polish than what I've seen in the demo. | |
