I didn't actually contest either of those, I said Destiny's multiplayer felt good and was surprisingly even, while the beta's doesn't and isn't-- it doesn't feel good to me, it feels like a mess, and it's just as uneven as it looks, whereas in Destiny it looks like it should be a mess but the different supers and grenades and some of the other abilities mostly have the same amount of usefulness, just in different cases.
: I feel cheated just about every time someone uses a super against me, and whether
: through actual armor or weapon perks (who knows!) that shorten recharge
: time or just perception, everyone always seems to have more supers to use
: than I ever do.
This says to me to you're probably approaching it wrong, that's like feeling cheated when you get sniped, it's going to happen, it's supposed to happen.
: The simple fact that there's even a comparison to make on enjoyment between
: Destiny's full-fledged multiplayer and the early build multiplayer of the
: Halo 5 BETA is sad for Bungie, but especially for me to think about when I
: consider the past enjoyment of previous Bungie competitive multiplayer.
Is it though? There very much is a comparison to be made, but what about the other side of that coin? I wouldn't say Destiny's competitive multiplayer is bad, but you presumably would, as do a lot of people, and this beta's gameplay has a lot of similarities to it, and is much more like it than any previous Halo game. It might be coming from Call of Duty or Titanfall or other places, but other than maybe the sprinting and maybe some aspects of zooming in and possibly the sprint charge it sure isn't coming from Halo.
Personally I will admit without hesitation Bungie didn't take multiplayer seriously this go around. No Forge, no LAN play, no customs at all, limited maps, no choice of map selection (what is this, 2006?), maps that rarely make effective use of their space (there are a lot of areas where no one goes because there's no reason to), severely limited gametypes and playlists, plus, yes, some imbalance in classes and abilities, and more severe imbalance in weapons and armor; that all says to me multiplayer wasn't a priority (which makes it all the more surprising that it does flow so well). What does that say about it flowing better, for me, than this beta, the whole purpose of which is to focus on multiplayer and try to make it better, and presumably show off the best of what 343i have so far and the direction they want to go in?
