: A lengthy read, but well worth it if you care about Halo.
I agreed with some, disagreed with some and could be happy either way for some of his thoughts.
I haven't fully fleshed out how I see the similarities in this, but me and a coworker were talking yesterday about how kids these days (Yay! I'm officially old!) seem to want the same experience in different locations. They want to play their iPad at home on the couch, in the bleachers of the baseball field, in the pew at church and in the car on the go so they can check Snapchat, Minecraft or Trivia Crack. With shorter attention spans and a higher likelihood of multitasking, maybe individual battles need to play out similarly in different locations throughout a map (not much variation in a single encounter or the player won't know what to do) and gameplay has to share instructions/directions with other shooters so that the player doesn't have to relearn mechanics. This would obviously be a catering to a younger demographic as the OP said on Waypoint and I'm not saying it's a good thing, just what might be happening. I mean, there is a lot of money with those kiddos in game buying.
I've personally really enjoyed the experience I've had so far in the Halo 5 beta. Then again, I think to the fact that it IS just an arena multiplayer BETA and we have no idea the other features possibly coming to Halo 5 (large scale/vehicular multiplayer, firefight, SpOps, etc) and realize if I'm enjoying this I more than likely will enjoy the game as a whole (provided it works when released).
