Something went sideways in the formula between H3 and Reach, and then continued to drift from there. H3's controls were the most awkward, but it's MP game play was the best. It is immediately apparent after jumping into 2-3 games of H3.

Even equipment was better - it added a dimension without deviating too much (like Sprint and Armor Lock). Because equipment was available like weapons across the map, people could coordinate/strategist as required.

I wonder honestly - what if they just went back to H3 rule set?

I agree with the author's premise - that Halo's holy grail of shooting, grenades, and melee is busted by sprint. Something has shifted game play into something else entirely, and since H3 was the last "good" point...sprint is as good a candidate as any.
