It's supposed to help you get around quicker, right? But they make the maps much larger, so what's the point in the first place? Sprint makes maps significantly harder to design, which is why the majority of Reach and H4 maps aren't very good. Sprint makes it very easy to escape encounters (which actually makes the game SLOWER), meaning there's less strategy in choosing what engagements you want to participate in, since there's not as much of a risk of death.
