Again, I think that it's just easier to get a far higher activity on threads where combativeness prevails. Post something negative, and there's something to discuss or argue about. Post something interesting and cool, and ... "Hey, that's cool!" would seem to be the easiest most common response; so why reply? (not that I think no one should reply, but my point...)
Discussability? What's engaging discussion?

I also think that "official" content gets FAR more interaction (of the positive type) than fan-made or space-filling discussion. I know personally, I'm more interested in mysteries in official canon than, say, analyzing the biology of an alien race. And I know first hand that there's more discussion surrounding say smaller official stories (eg, Halo: Evolutions shorts) than fan-made stories or series (tho I'd love to see some overall 'talk' stats about Levi's FFoA across the entire Halo community compared to official releases, and other fan creations).

And at this point in time, there just isn't enough of that, I guess, "official mystery" or discussable subject matter in the Halo universe. So, gaming topics and rants take center stage.

* and yes I just made up the word discussable for this comment. cuz I'm lazy. :P

Suggestion...

343: Don't answer all our grander questions - give us some meat on which to ponder and theorize and follow and explore; and not focused towards your local waypoint community but the community at large, even NON-fans and future fans. Don't focus on gaming, focus on the IP, on the universe, on the mysteries and awe and intrigue. Capture our imaginations, not our controllers. The latter will follow!
