And given the way Sony seems to be courting Bungie, inviting them to the PS4 announcement, having them do their demo at the Sony E3 show, releasing a Destiny theme (or whatever) for the PS3…

And the thing is none of Microsoft's choices will really impact me. I almost never buy used games. I am always online. Heck, the sharing games with friends or across locations actually sounds good. It's that darn 1 day and your investment turns off that's killing me here. If it were 1 week, I'd be ok with it. If they trusted their DRM and only shut off shared games, not games I paid good money for / installed and associated with my account correctly / etc then I'd be fine with it. It's the lack of trust with the short time frame multiplied by the lack of trust that in the games I have installed not being pirated…

And of course who does this affect? The pirates or me who has never even considered stealing an Xbox game or modding an Xbox or any of that. The pirates will just spoof the authentication server or whatever if their internet goes down while I'll be stuck with a $400 paperweight that duplicates the function of my existing blu-ray player… Wonderful. I am very quickly talking myself out of ever owning an Xbone… Combine all that with the interesting, story heavy games that Sony has been showing off or getting exclusives too like Heavy Rain, The Last of Us, Beyond Two Souls, and so on… The only thing left is that PS4 controller really. If it feels good… feels more like a Dreamcast / Xbox controller… then I'm sold on an eventual PS4.
