Frankie says that the UNSC is like the Federation but that just makes me wonder what he is smoking ;-) I don't think that everybody at 334 or even Bungie shared that opinion of the UNSC.
I'd like to see a big shakeup of the Human culture/government or at least see it's troubles play out.
KT get's panned for the things that she says about Halsey and ONI, etc. sometimes it comes across as one sided but sometimes we take what a character says or thinks as, necessarily, reflecting or being her views. maybe she was just raising the issues.
I'm not really comfortable with John becoming 'The Chosen One' but he was a 'victim' of the Spartan program and yet still holds Halsey in high regard. I wonder if, together, they could act as a force to change the course of humanity.
Halsey isn't a promising person to fix moral problems but maybe she has learned from her mistakes. And it's hard for her to fit in with ONI or the UNSC's brass' plans so her hand is forced in a way - fix/change things or be trod on.
I just hope that 343 doesn't get hung up on destiny and fate but let's the characters' actions flow from their own nature's and situations. I don't like the idea that everything has been choreographed/determined by the Librarian because she is just a stand in for the authors - it is the authors who have set the path that the story will follow. This is always the case in fiction but I prefer events to seem natural and organic and for it to appear that the characters and story have a life of their own.
Having the Librarian determine the exact course of events from thousands of years in the past just feels like lazy story telling. It strains credibility that anyone could do that. Her plans work because the authors make sure that they work and as consumers of the fiction we can see why 'all' her plans are working.
