: It seems like the planet is just one gigantic Kentucky in June-August except
: all year round. It is out of the way, far from the government, away from
: people in general. It sounds peaceful.
Actually, according to its actual placement in space, only Reach and Arcadia are closer to Earth than Harvest. After those 3 worlds, all other currently known human colonies are farther out. Harvest is supposed to be 'out of the way' but since the folks writing about it didn't know too much about astronomy, they ended up putting Harvest on Earth's doorstep, galactically speaking.
