=D
: I have a nostalgic fondness for the Mark V but the Mark VI, especially the H3
: version, tapped perfectly into Master Chief and Halo as a whole. Somewhat
: functional, somewhat detailed, but iconic, colorful, and readable. It also
: felt unique (although obviously grounded in the lineage of the
: space-marine).
To put it in terms of the comic-book superheroes 343i seems to take inspiration from, why change Superman's suit? Why give Spiderman a redesign? Why throw out something designed by a master like Steve Ditko for something Rob Leifeld drew on his lunch break?
: A few of these new suits look like Crysis under-armor with various Gundam
: pieces attached. They're so detailed and layered they lose their identity
: in themselves and the other games the art direction is trying to tap.
New game, same problems. It's only a minor step up from the Styrofoam-on-Spandex, with helmets that ape everything from Dead Space to Doom 3.
I appreciate 343i's art department shaking things up and trying to roll back some of their mistakes, but they've got a long way to go yet.
