If it's not an error, I wonder if it's a hint as to Lockes psychological state. We already know there's myriad differences between the two trailers. The biggest in my mind is their motion trackers. If Lockes gear isn't registering Chiefs presence, then maybe, MAYBE, he's hallucinating MC entirely. Might explain the disparity between gun in hand and on HUD.
