But... but considering that under their armor all Sangheili look to the same to humans, the Arbiter's armor was part of his identity. Had I been shown a picture of his new armor with no context at all and no prior knowledge that the Arbiter had been redesigned, I would have assumed it was a new character. It would be like Darth Vader showing up at the beginning of Return of the Jedi with a totally new set of armor, say, something red with a radically different helmet and no fancy Lite Brite chest box. This is one reason why visual consistency is important. There are sci-fi universes that have been around longer and have more material than Halo, yet manage greater visual consistency. Bungie was bad about redesigning things on occasion, but 343I has taken it to a whole new level, with far greater artistic liberties granted to the art team.
