My understanding is that the main problem with multiplayer in Oni is the hand-to-hand combat. Why couldn't they just add co-op play, and disable "friendly fire"? You might have a couple of problems if both players go after the same enemy, but you've got that at high latency in most games.

Again, if they added co-op play, all they'd have to do is mess with a few doors so people don't get stuck if one guy runs ahead. If they wanted to be really nice, they could add a few more enemies to make the game more difficult in multiplayer. No new levels required.

I think it'd be awesome to have Konoko and Muro, or Konoko and that TCTF girl you watch fight at the beginning, running around beating up thugs together. (of course, playing as Muro would make some of the storyline seem a little strange, but as you can already reportedly play through as Muro after finishing the game....)
