Myth noob here, but I've always wondered about this:

Did anyone else get the impression that a year in this world is not the same as our year? The ending narration in myth 2 has a Jman talking about seeing the cath-bruig at the height of its power, and hopefully being able to see if the leveler's cycle is broken in 940 years.

It could explain some things.
