In Response To: Re: They look like defects (Quirel)

: You were using Solidworks to make computer models?

I needed low poly versions to put a spinning model in the programming UI. We paid a guy to create the models but the bosses wanted to see if we could just take existing models and run a tool on them.

The answer was no (or, at least, my N00b skilz were not up to the task).

But then we moved to C# and MS dropped their support for the retained mode directX and then someone else took over the program editor and replaced the 3D model with a rotating picture thingy so it became a non-issue (it could also be reused on the website).

But, anyway, I usually avoid work talk so nobody collars me for tech support. And I don't work there now so doubly not interested in free tech support. :-) It's ancient history.

I used to work on an offline reader but that was back in the dial-up modem days...

And I used to work in the death industry but I'm glad to be out of that. I once went to an arms dealer thingy in (Chobam ?) and it was all dramatic videos of aircraft taking off from aircraft carriers set to rock music. There was one stand for bomb disposing robots which was like a bombed out cottage. (It looked really realistic/good) But nobody went near that stand. It was the only thing that reminded people of what the products they sold actually did.

Now I think about it... a bombed out cottage isn't a great advert for your robots. ;-)

There were even Russians selling their stuff there. Giant ship shells with little radar dishes in their noses (no shit, they had cutaways to show it).
