If we're talking about video games, sure. But the Halo franchise could easily last 20+ years if not 30+, IF the universe is kept fresh, explored regularly, with a variety of character about whom people can continue to tell stories.

Star Wars and Star Trek were that narrative rich. Doctor Who essentially keeps going because it keeps getting rebooted, with each episode being (for the most part) its own crazy-idea'd sci-fi-ish short story with narrative arcs spanning across an entire reboot...

007 could be lumped in with that style of franchise too.

So I'd say Halo is closer to Star Wars and Star Trek than the others, although Star Trek's getting its first 'reboot' now as well. :P
