This is my favorite speculation that I'm so glad turned out false just because of how ridiculous it was: Master Chief, at the end of Halo 3, traveled back in time (due to some slipspace shit) prior to the fall of Reach. So Requiem = Reach, and Master Chief = Noble Six.

Also, there was a whole thread on bungie.net dedicated to finding the "secrets of Sandtrap". Some people thought there was a giant unseen portion of Sandtrap that had to be unlocked by doing a bunch of stuff around the map. I think I remember the biggest pieces of "evidence" was some blobby shape found on of the wall's textures.

Although now I'm pretty sure both of those threads were meant to be taken as jokes. Nobody could be serious about either of those, right?
