I know, I'm just busting his balls. I also wanted to reference half-jaw hehe
:It's been known that
: humans (ONI in particular) were responsible for naming Covenant materiel
: from the start. There are several references to ONI naming the Covenant
: fighters "Seraphs" and we can assume they also named Banshees,
: Wraiths, Ghosts, etc.
: They also came up with the naming scheme which mostly corresponds to the year
: of first encounter: Types such as T-25, T-47, T-52 for Covenant
: vehicle/weapons/equipment discoveries in 2525, 2547, and 2552,
: respectively. A few exceptions to this scheme exist like the bladed
: weapons and grenades, probably named for first year of discovery on the
: war. So T-1 Plasma Grenades were probably first cataloged in the first
: year of the Human-Covenant War but were never redesignated as T-25.
: Humans call the Covenant's tuning-fork-shaped dropship a Spirit-class, yet
: the Covenant refer to it as the DX-class.
: What ONI calls the ORS-class cruiser, the Covenant referred to as the
: Reverence-class.
With regards to the Seraph class, I only recall one other name for them and that was the 'Tarsq' (Spelling is wrong I know) from the description of the Elite pilot armor in Halo 3... though I don't know if that is an Sanghelli designation or Human again.
Either way, I wanted to echo your sentiment that the Cruiser, Destroyer, Carrier designation are human and not necessarily analogous to what the Covenant called them.
