Down here, the OXbox was far too unknown and expensive. So much, that I never had LAN parties, never had gazillions of friends hooked on Halo. However, those magical, far too few, days when me and other three friends hooked up my Xbox in my room and another in my living room, two teams of two, battling for those flags in Sidewinder, those magical days, those were the days.
Epic moments of on-foot Spartans holding off against an incoming Warthog, turret blazing. The terror and joy of seeing the Scorpion turning around the corner, followed by the straight rocket shot your buddy fired at it from the snow wall.
I can still hear one of them cursing at me from across the apartment because I killed him yet again and stole his Warthog. Ah, yes, my fondest memories.
And that's not even mentioning the wild co-op nights, in that we usually did the whole campaign (be it Halo: CE or H2) in one sitting. The state of euphoria and madness that 20 straight hours of gaming induced us.
The two OXboxes I burnt out, both because of Halo and Halo alone.
Those days are, unfortunately, gone. One of those friends, the most maniac of us, moved out to another state. One never really enjoyed playing Halo. The other, the one that has the one other OXbox I've seen that is in my city, is now studying Mechanical Engineering in the same university I attend, but just doesn't play videogame anymore.
Now I rely on the 360 and XBL to relive those moments. But honestly, it is just not the same. I hope you guys keep on LANing as long as we live. I hope I have the chance to attend several of them too.
