: We've had over ten years of Halo, now, and six games (Seven, counting Halo
: Wars). For so long, I've been a fan of Halo, and I became a fan of Bungie.
: Looking back, I can remember so many great moments, from the first moment I
: popped in that Halo disk into that giant black box, a massive Duke in my
: hands, all the way through the completion of Halo 4.
: I remember when the Halo 2 announcement trailer dropped, and then the E3
: demo. I remember LAN parties with friends, and the migration of that
: atmosphere to Xbox Live for Halo 2. That was the pinnacle of gaming for
: me, at the time. I was playing with the same people I used to have LAN
: parties with, and that was so amazing, as I had since moved thousands of
: miles away from those people.
: I remember first joining the HBO Forerunners and goofing around all the time,
: playing stupid made up games and exploring outside of the maps, or all of
: us joining games a pink Elites and congo-lining our way through Lockout.
: And because of this place, a decent group of Forerunners still have an
: active IRC channel and get together for games when we can, even if it's
: not usually a game of Halo anymore.
: My first midnight release was for Halo 2. I was in college at the time, and I
: blew off classes the next day to play with some friends all night and
: through the day. I remember playing the Halo 3 beta, because we got some
: keys to spread amongst the HBO Forerunners, and then much later playing
: the Reach beta right before I went to basic training.
: There are so many great moments to remember, and despite some of the
: disappointments along the way that seemed like such a huge deal back then
: (Halo 2's ending comes to mind), I look back and realize I wouldn't change
: a thing about it.
: It's been a great ride, and I'm still here for both 343i's Halo journey, and
: wherever Bungie decides to take us with Destiny.
: More than anything, this community made me a fan of Halo, and of Bungie. I
: would not have had as much fun along the way, or made some of the friends
: that I have, if it weren't for this place. So thanks to you all, and to Wu
: for putting up with us and keeping this place going.
: For the sake of discussion, what are some of your favorite memories and
: moments over the past decade?
One of mine has to be sneaking Halo PC games during class when the teacher was away.
Another would be entering a tournament, and getting my butt handed to me, but I was around people who loved Halo and other stuff.
