In First Strike, Cortana encounters a Covenant AI with suspiciously familiar architecture, the implications being that it's a copy of a Forerunner AI or a copy of a captured Human AI. Either way, it was fairly loyal to the Covenant.
In Contact Harvest, the Grunt character admonishes Lighter Than Some for creating a networked intelligence, which is forbidden by Covenant doctrine. The thinking seems to be that the Forerunner were betrayed by a machine intelligence, so the Covenant don't trust AIs. This distrust does not seem to extend to Monitors, which brings up two thoughts.
A) The fact that they fear AIs for the treachery of one AI against the Forerunner, yet they venerate a shard of that same traitorous AI on the Dreadnought is deliciously ironic.
B) The way they reconcile this distrust for one and veneration for the other would be interesting to explore.
