It would stand to lose this story. Communicating from (what I presume is) Earth to Saturn wouldn't be an interview, it would be correspondence, and communicating out-of-system would take years if not decades-- of course you could just use a faster-than-light mail ship*, carrying either paper or electronic media, but you'd still be looking at days or weeks as far as I can tell, which narrows down what stories you can tell.
Besides, superluminal communication has been canon since Halo 2, it's just a matter of humans figuring it out.
I agree it could give a different flavor to Halo, and not a bad one, but I'm OK with this direction too.
