It wouldn't be the first time a work of fiction used the "All Just a Dream" trope. If it's good enough for the ninth season of Dallas, it's good enough for the Reclaimer Trilogy. And it actually makes more sense for Halo. Treating 343-era Halo as taking place in a dream or an alternate universe actually helps make me stomach all the changes better.
