Halo 4 really isn't canon?

What is the canonical design of the Charon-class Frigate? The one featured in Halo 3, or Halo 4? - Onyx81

Halo 3 shows the canonical Charon-class, while Halo 4 introduced us to the Strident-class of UNSC frigates.

Doesn't this imply that the Dawn's appearance in Halo 4 isn't canonical? I mean, if the Dawn was clearly a standard Charon-class in Halo 3, yet in Halo 4 it's an over-sized Strident-class, then that means the latter appearance can't be real and thus the entire storyline of Halo 4 and everything that follows may not be real.

"Reclaimer Trilogy is actually the Chief having a nightmare while in cryo sleep" confirmed! I mean, everything seems off in your dreams, which would be a perfectly reasonable explanation for all the major visual inconsistencies between Halo 3 and Halo 4. At least, this is my new official headcanon.
