What was great about RDM's Battlestar Galactica was that incorporated a great deal of the original series' visual properties into the reimagining, both in the universe's past and in active events. The Centurions of BSG TOS became the original Cylons in the reimagined series' flashbacks and prequel stories, as well as in the prequel series Caprica. Their Raiders and Baseships also made multiple appearances throughout the new series.

However, as some time has passed since the First Cylon War, the Cylons, like the Colonials, would have obviously phased out and replaced their tech with newer, more radical designs. Some will take a lot of visual queues from the original, like the Battlestar Pegasus, but it has every right to be different. Even Halo is following this with introducing newer content right alongside older stuff whether it takes inspirations from those legacy designs or not.
