I don't think, honestly, it was the attitude that sparked it. I'm of the mind that initially, it was the bad/annoying writing having her constantly saying 'eggheads' in the narrative that sparked a distaste for her character, and sparked a distaste of everything else about her from there (though all around the same time, mind you :P).
I think it's partially her character, but moreso attributed to the writing of her character, and 'eggheads' was just the first and foremost annoyance to latch on to, which got the ball rolling. I'm sure it would have happened even if she wasn't constantly saying eggheads.
