Is Palmer really any worse than some of the other side characters in Halo?
For example, Miranda Keyes. She was introduced at the start of Halo 2 (out of the blue) with only her family heritage to make the players care about her (an heritage that is only half mentioned in the games, because of Bungie's attitude towards the expanded fiction), she did very little of note except for deliver some of the worst lines the series has ever had and then died in the arms of Johnson, another relationship that came out of the blue in an attempt to make the audience like her.
Is Palmer really worse than her? Just because Palmer has an attitude you don't like it doesn't make her a bad character, I'm fairly sure she has more personality and a better voice actress than Miranda ever did.
