: because the worldbuilding in Halo 4 amounted to "A lot can happen in
: four years", and now they're gone.

I hadn't thought about that before, but the lack of consistent villains would explain a lot of Halo 4 and 5's forgetful campaigns for me. I loved the story in 4 and mechanics in 5, but don't think I could name one level in either campaign like I could for every level for every Halo before Reach.
