: tank out of nowhere at the start of the match, then the Pay2Win argument
: is strongly diminished. It's potentially further diminished by good team play.

The problem isn't everyone paying for req packs or having them offset skill (although making skill matter less is a bit of a problem) so much as players that are already good paying for them. These would boost the advantage of a skilled team, and they'll be able to use them sooner, and they may be able to lock down the opposing team so much they can't use theirs at all. (Again though, I think the delayed and spaced-out nature of acquiring things with these packs along with the general chaos of the game will make this problem not be a big one, and people are making a good point about them being somewhat random.)
