Engineers were created to repair Forerunner machinery. What use could the Lekgolo be created for? Were they a Lifeworker creation designed to remove Forerunner installations from abandoned worlds? Seems like a lot of work, and you're leaving behind an invasive species.

Threshold no longer has an atmosphere. Basin has been eroded to an oblong planetoid and is skipping its merry way around the Seoll system, because it was ejected from Threshold's orbit.

Could be. Since they are a collective mind made of hundreds of worms, the concept of a soul wouldn't have developed. Gestalts are too transient to worry about their immortality, and individual worms are interchangeable.
