That's just... Why?

The Forward Unto Dawn re-design was always my least favorite visual change from Halo 4. You can reason that the change was necessary so that it was large enough to actually play on- but why did we need to play on it? Was there no other alternative for an opening level? It's not like the Forward Unto Dawn setting brought any interesting gameplay scenarios.
