I'm sorry that I posted a note that started a fight like this; that wasn't my intention at all.

The original video looked very suspicious to me (as in, staged). I left it alone, because I figured if it was real, others would repeat it and confirm its validity. I didn't really consider "it's real, you can find it for yourself" as confirmation - hence my note.

My feeling is, something that's been hidden for 6 years isn't suddenly going to be findable simply because someone says it's there. (I've seen how contentious egg hunts get when someone says "hey, there's an egg, but I'm not going to give you all the details, go find it for yourself" - megg, anyone?) There is almost no useful information in either the original video or Xanderj's followup that actually give hunters anything to go on - so what's the point of not saying anything? If we didn't find it with no info in 6 and a half years, why is another week going to make a difference? (That would be a different question with any real clues.)

Whatever. If people want a few weeks to hunt for it on their own, go for it. I don't give a damn, one way or the other - I'm going to continue to assume it's a hoax until someone shows me differently.

To those who lament the 'old days' when folks cared about this stuff... maybe you should remember that in the old days, there weren't very many people taunting the community about something new and cool. We found things AS A GROUP. We worked together, we didn't hide info from one another and say "nyah, nyah, I know about an egg, maybe you can find it for yourself if you shoot stuff."
