That would be after it came out right?
I was referring to the period before Halo was released, when not a whole lot was still known about it other than it was going to be an xbox exclusive and that Microsoft had pillaged Bungie from Apple.
Then maybe the weeks leading up to release.
My point is, the 'established' Bungie community from MBO probably wasn't happy. Those people either changed their tune after awhile and became accepting of the new franchise, or slowly faded off the radar into obscurity. Maybe a few hung around or still hang around to poke the hornets nest from time to time (cough-cough). Would that be accurate?
Eventually Halo attracts new members here because they like Halo or want to know more about Bungie or both.
: However, after a while I think that subsided, as folks began
: to speculate and pick apart some of the more subtle tidbits.
: Did Cortana Lie to Foe Hammer?
And that's what I think is going to happen here. The majority of this community will migrate to Destiny and DBO but will spend less and less time here until they hardly spend any time and then none.
After that, there will be a few holdouts that remain here to pick up the pieces. This HBO community will get smaller and smaller yet more refined. Discussions will center less around how the franchise is being ruined and more around the state of the universe. A sense of....normalcy will return.
The flame at HBO will not burn as bright as it once did (those Halcyon days now past) but it will still burn.
Then, looking even further into the future, the next Halo will come out and there will be a brief resurgence here of old names and faces. Some will come in for nostalgia, some will come to lament about 343, some will be curious to see how things are and some, some will come because they are interested in Halo again. (I'm ignoring the debate on if Halo __ is successful or unsuccessful- that's subjective as 'success' is relevant to what you wanted out of it)
Now, what I'm NOT sure if this community has ever seen before (referring to the general BO here) has been TWO franchises competing for their attention, for example, Destiny and Halo at the same time. I wonder what a successful Halo 5 and a successful Destiny would mean for this community...
These are the things that *I* think about.
Keeps me up at night.
