I had the same impression as ZackDark about the plasma pistol. I think the main trouble there is, the way his hand looks, I'm expecting the gun to be angled a lot more towards the front; but it isn't.

It's a fairly complex shape, maybe a bit distracting? Some square confetti like with the Grunt Birthday Party skull might be worth considering.

My other thoughts were:
The green confetti doesn't contrast well against the blue cloud.
A purple Grunt? Maybe I'm missing something here.
For the glow-in-the-dark version, maybe his visor should glow too?
