I'm pretty confident that Cortana+Domain will be a thing, in some manner.
As for 'traces of existence', technically data could be on a disc but it would be dormant unless/until restored and executed. Traces of Cortana's "code" may exist if they haven't been magnetically/magically erased from whatever storage medium they were on, but if she died stopped executing, then there'd need to be that 'spark' of some sort to get her active again. Who knows if there is or will be some space-magic/forerunner influence in that area.

I still firmly believe we've not seen the last of Cortana, at least in the Master Chief arc (however many games are yet to come :P)
