Yeah, there's that worry, but Microsoft has had every chance to do it over the span of three games now as this trend has continued on. Reach, Halo 4, and likely Halo 5 all have the same expansive campaigns dating back to the first game in the series. Any cut content hasn't hid behind a paywall for a later date. Halo's cut content is either left out for a good reason or is reintroduced properly in the future like so many cool features have before. I don't think we'll ever find ourselves missing out on any aspect of the story short of deep, complex lore in other forms of media.

At the most we'll probably see another episodic campaign like Spartan Ops which would be cool. It wasn't essential for the game's original campaign, both in gameplay function and with consideration of the story, but it's just a neat little addition.

Honestly I can't think of too many shooters, and I'm not counting Destiny at all being an MMO-ish thingy, that have included a paywall behind campaign experiences. Not even Call of Duty or Battlefield bothers with stuff like that, and neither does Killzone, Titanfall, Gears of War, or any other popular console shooters out there.
