I worded it wrong. I was referring to if someone took your creation, modded it, and gave it away after you've put it out to be tested. Meaning that you have no control, your name removed from YOUR creation, etc, etc. But the entire time, it is still your content, your brand, and Not Finished. Modders, do get paid for some of their modding of the code. But that's a small group.

But the amount of money/publicity MS looses or gains does not matter. It is being edited and distributed without their permission. That's what matters.

Mods aren't bad so long as they follow the law.
Mods are made on virtually everything from socks to planes. So long as the original creators don't mind and are not harmed (in any way), then it's okay. You can even charge for modifications so long as you are not selling the original content.

In Halo Online's case, it's being modded and redistributed outside the country without permission.
Anf for the record, a lot of modders have made changes to content and claimed to be part of the development team. Only so they can scam fans. Not all modders are kind hearted.
