Did you know that the word "Idiot" used to a clinical term for the intellectually disabled? Nowadays, it simply means someone who makes boneheaded decisions.

Same thing with "Imbecile" and "Feeble-minded". "Moron" specifically meant an adult with the mental capacity of an 8-12 year old. When I was a kid in school, "Special" and "Challenged" and "Short-bus" were making the rounds. Wikipedia calls this the Euphemism Treadmill."

Now, I've got a cousin that I've taken care of on occasion. He's not quite all right in the head, something wrong with his chromosomes. And believe me, what people call each other is the absolute least of his problems.

If I thought that Munky harbored any hatred towards people like my cousin, I'd walk all over him. But there's fights that can actually help my cousin, and then there's noble, futile, Sisyphean efforts like fighting how the English language evolves. You're more than free to do what you want... I just think it's a waste of wonderful drive and conviction that can be put to more constructive ends.
