Black Team going out like that was pretty harsh and honestly unnecessary. It's like making the baddie of the week on TNG always being able to best Worf to show how powerful and vicious they are. These four starred in their own short story and just a couple months later, their own comic series, and we haven't seen them now for four and a half years until this issue. Some of us enjoyed these Spartans that had yet to be properly developed to a quarter of their fullest potential. 343i even went out of their way to expose a teaser about Black Team in their Catalog posts to excite us about their future. Then they pull this shit? Ugh.

Their death in the presence of Prometheans makes me wonder the potential stories that could be had if the Composer had survived or Mantle's Approach as a whole. What if John had failed and was kicked into that slipspace fissure instead of UrDidact to Gamma Halo? Even if you must kill off Black Team, do it in a way that will devastate John even more than what happened at Ivanoff and New Pheonix. Compose them. John is unable to save more people leading him to doubt himself and loose his "armor". Black Team would be ripped straight from their bodies into the Composer into something new, like a new form of Promethean we'll fight later derived from composed Spartans.

I don't know. I'm just so bitter that I need to find some reason to keep my babies alive.
