Not disagreeing with you, just thinking out loud, but didn't 343 say the sole reason for the armor redesign was make Chief look and feel like a "walking fighter jet"?

Although I still hate the nanomachnes explanation, Chiefs New design has really grown on me. I think he does look slick and more flexible. If you look, his shoulders probably have more freedom now than in H3 (hell, even Nylund made references how S-IIs couldn't shrug their shoulders in MJOLNIR), and his shoulders stick out any further than his forearm gauntlets.
