As opposed to "I'm with stupid ->". Because Halo Wars 2 is not stupid. It's smart. There's already too many FPS releases. The franchise needs some variety in its games. Going with Halo Wars wouldn't really compete with another Halo product, like H5. It's a different experience. Releasing yet another FPS game, however, would.
On the topic of competing, you know what Halo games (or Waypoint I guess, if it runs as a companion app on the box) need starting with MCC? A unified population stats display of how many players are online in a given Halo release (for that platform at least) and preferably with a precentage breakdown of that release's game modes that support matchmaking (campaign, PvP, etc).
So I can decide whether or not I want to quit Halo Wars 2, eject my disc, then insert MCC or H5 because I see there's a sizeable population of players already in a given matchmaking mode that I'm in the mood for. Instead of doing all that, only to have "the princess is in another castle" moment where there are only a handful of people in the game doing SPOPs or whatever.
