I am pretty sure I recall hearing/seeing in an interview about spartan ops when some asked "Can we get elite ops?" a reply was "no, but you might see arbiter show up in SOPS." Escalation the comic series just so happens to pick up the storyline right after SOPS ended, with a debrief of the events of SOPS, the arbiter returns, and well SoF is returning.

So I am the firm in belief that Halo: Escalation is or was what SOPS season 2 would have been if it was created.

Just food for thought and an opinion.
