: I've been asked to design a pirate ship for a friend to have tattooed onto
: his bicep. I refused. When asked why not, I simply replied with 'Cause
: when you get older it'll sink!' :)
Hate to break it to you, but when you get older, everything sinks. ;)
In regards to tattooing something that might not continue, rather in production, or popularity, or in other's people's memories - that's the whole point for many people: to make a mark and remember. They can be an intimate, symbolic record of your most powerful passions, even when the world has moved on, even when you have moved on, and even when your body starts to crumble, there was still that shining moment.
