What really bothers me about busy maps is that I tend to enjoy cleaner maps aesthetically more as well. Having junk everywhere can easily become a strictly bad thing. I noted in my SpOps Episode 10 post that I thought the Liche area of Apex was one of the most visually attractive areas in Halo 4, and a major part of that is that they concerned themselves with nice geometric beauty over pushing an excess of stuff in the gameplay foreground.
That this area also played reasonably well is a nice side effect.
